The Surgical Technologist, also known as an Operating Room Specialist, plays a vital role in the success of our Ambulatory Surgery Center. As a key member of the OR team, you will be responsible for assisting the physician during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Procedure Preparation: Don OR attire and personal protective equipment (PPE), gather and check supplies and equipment needed for the procedure, and set up the sterile back table and Mayo stand.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist the team members with gowning and gloving, perform surgical skin prep, drapes the patient, and establishes the sterile field.
- Instrumentation and Supplies: Prepare and anticipate additional instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for use during the procedure, and pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon as needed.
- Medication and Solution Administration: Measure and pass medications and solutions utilized during the surgical procedure.
- Post-Procedure Tasks: Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization, lead other members of the team with terminal cleaning of the room, and assist in prepping the OR for the next patient.
- Education and Certification: High School diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, and current certification as CST and/or CFSA preferred.
- Experience and Skills: At least 5 years of related experience, ability to educate and lead the team, strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, and ability to work independently and make decisions.
- Licenses and Certifications: BLS certified or to obtain BLS certification within three months of hire.
Pain Physicians of Wisconsin SC is a group of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and a great group of support staff serving the southeast region of Wisconsin. Our goal is to help our patients live their healthiest lives possible by easing pain symptoms and restoring function and movement.
