Clinical Educator for Diabetes Care

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator II will play a vital role in improving the delivery of diabetic patient care and staff education at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Medical Center. This position requires a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills to develop and provide diabetes education for patients and their families on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of clinical RN experience, with a focus on managing the care of patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. A Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) certification is preferred, and the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate clinical opportunities and strategies for improving diabetic patient care and staff education.
  • Develop and provide diabetes education for patients and their families on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
  • Act as a liaison with multi-disciplinary departments and services concerning diabetes education.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Minimum of three years clinical RN experience required.
  • Minimum of three years experience managing the care of patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Familiarity with insulin pumps preferred.
  • Current Texas RN license required.
  • Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) preferred.
