Job Summary

CareFlite is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ground Paramedic to join our team. As a Ground Paramedic, you will be responsible for delivering safe and high-quality advanced emergency care to patients transported by our Ground Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate emergency vehicles in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as CareFlite policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicles and report any issues or required services.
  • Assist flight crew members in loading and unloading patients for helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft transports.
  • Ensure that all interactions with patients, family members, and medical personnel are professional and courteous.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and medical personnel to ensure a smooth and safe transport experience.
  • Participate in the delivery of non-emergency and emergency patient care in accordance with CareFlite Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Complete accurate and timely records to document patient condition and services rendered.
  • Ensure that assigned vehicles are adequately stocked and cleaned according to CareFlite policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities as directed by your supervisor.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current State of Texas certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Current PHTLS Certificate or obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
  • Current PALS Certificate or obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
  • Current Dallas City Ambulance Attendant Driver permit.
  • Current Texas Class C driver's license.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • 2 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to make decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Examine and assess the skin and other abnormalities through sight, touch, and smell.
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Will often be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds or more.
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to coordinate activities closely with others in stressful situations.
  • Ability to take direction and adapt to changing situations/job duties.
  • Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
