Position Overview:

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to contribute to the United States Army Space and Missile Defense School (SMDS). This institution operates under the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) and the Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence (SMDCoE). The primary objectives of the School include:
1) Educating, training, and cultivating leaders for Space and Missile Defense operations;
2) Formulating Army Doctrine for Space, High Altitude, and Global Missile Defense;
3) Creating individual and collective training tasks for Space and Missile Defense operations;
4) Training and educating the broader Army in Space and Missile Defense;
5) Implementing the Army's Quality Assurance Program to uphold standards in the education, training, and leadership development of Soldiers and Civilians.

This role will provide essential support to the School's Division of Training and Doctrine (DOTD).

Key Responsibilities:

- Employ the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) framework to connect the operational environment with individual learning products across operational, institutional, and self-development domains, including distributed learning.
- Apply the ADDIE model to align operational environments with collective learning products for operational units engaged in space, high altitude, and missile defense missions.
- Assist in the development of the Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA) Standardized Mission Essential Task List (METL) and facilitate the Army approval processes.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of all space and missile defense tasks, providing constructive feedback and recommendations for modifications. Develop both collective and individual tasks.
- Implement training development in accordance with Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Regulations and Army accreditation standards.
- Utilize Training Development Capability (TDC) and other mandated databases to create unit and institutional training materials.
- Achieve and maintain certification in line with TR and the Staff and Faculty Development Program.
- Create lesson plans, training resources, course content, and evaluation criteria.
- Offer technical expertise and insights related to Army space and missile defense operations.
- Develop and document training solutions for validation and approval.
- Prepare training requirements analysis system documents, training publications, STRAPs, training support packages, and training strategies as necessary.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Over 12 years of experience in space, missile defense, training development, or related military fields.
- Familiarity with the ADDIE model and experience in its application.
- Previous experience in training development.
- Knowledge of Space and Missile Defense Fundamentals.
- Understanding of Army and Joint staffing processes.
- Capability to coordinate and collaborate with external Federal and Government Agencies.
- Experience and comprehension of military operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to present information to senior officials.
- Understanding of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP).
- Skill in articulating space concepts to non-space personnel and missile defense concepts to non-missile defense personnel.

Highly Desired:

- Experience in writing System Training Plans (STRAP) and utilizing the STRAP Writing Tool.
- Relevant military occupational specialties such as FA40, Space 200, ASCBC, Space Operations Course, GMD, or other pertinent space and missile defense courses.
- Completion of the Sensor Manager Qualification Course (SMQC) or Sensor Leadership Development Course (SMLDC).
- Familiarity with Space Operations and/or Missile Defense capabilities.

Security Clearance Requirements:
Must possess a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for this position.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
