Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a RN, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to a culture of excellence and compassion.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient-centered, holistic care, engaging with diverse populations and their families
  • Assess patient and family readiness to learn, and develop strategies to meet their learning needs
  • Initiate referrals and discharge planning, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Mobilize resources to optimize patient outcomes and reduce risk
  • Analyze challenging situations and intervene to optimize patient outcomes
Clinical Excellence:
  • Consistently apply evidence-based practice in patient care
  • Utilize knowledge and experience to anticipate and alter the plan of care as needed
  • Make sound clinical decisions, demonstrating ability to care for patients with complex problems
  • Prioritize and organize patient care, ensuring follow-through with planned, interdisciplinary care
  • Facilitate patient and family's right to receive quality, cost-effective care
Leadership:
  • Participate in shared governance activities and initiatives to improve processes and patient outcomes
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills

  • Proactively facilitate compliance with regulatory standards
  • Assume leadership role in nurse/unlicensed assistive personnel team, delegating appropriately

Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Good communication, computer, time management, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with patient care equipment
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Current CPR
  • Certifications/education required for nursing specialty
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts
  • Ability to transport objects, patients, and equipment
  • Ability to respond quickly to patient needs and work at fast pace
  • Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of patients in the event of a fire or other disaster
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
