Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

GHD is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Construction group. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment, including tracked excavators, dozers, and wheel loaders, associated with dirt work construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to changing operating conditions.
  • Read and interpret site-specific Safety Plans and equipment operator's manuals.
  • Read MSDSs or SDSs for chemicals brought to or used at the hazardous waste site.
  • Work in areas of uneven terrain and assist in the training of new or less skilled Equipment Operators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years' experience in the construction field.
  • Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles and safety precautions.
  • Must be physically able to perform job tasks and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Experience with behavior-based safety programs and environmental contamination in soils.
  • Ability to demonstrate common sense understanding and carrying out detailed written and oral instruction.
  • Current 40-HR HAZWOPER Training and Heavy Equipment Operator Certification.
  • Must be able to pass a background screen and have a valid driver's license.
  • First Aid/CPR and excellent customer relations skills.
