The YMCA of Southern Maine is a dynamic organization that values diversity, inclusion, and community service. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Custodian.

Job Summary

This is a part-time position that will work under the direction of the Facility Director to ensure the overall cleanliness and upkeep of our YMCA facility. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the facility is clean and well-maintained, including vacuuming, washing, mopping, and performing trash pickup and light maintenance.
  • Respond to facility concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety practices and maintain familiarity with MSDS locations and information.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent maintenance logs and inventory.
Requirements
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to follow schedules and deadlines to meet the needs of various YMCA programs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual; able to work independently and within a team.
  • Sound decision-making skills; able to take initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Capable of performing basic math calculations, including fractions and decimals.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Possess basic computer skills, including email and the internet.
  • A criminal background check is required.
