About the Role

As a Medical Support Specialist at BioLife, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality plasma collection process. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion, as well as conduct medical history interviews and physical examinations. You will also be responsible for reviewing laboratory test results and determining whether donors are eligible to donate plasma.

In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Center Manager and the management of the Center Physician for operational guidance and medical issues. You will need to follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues.
