Overview:
The Lead Patient Financial Coordinator is expected to exhibit a consistently high level of expertise within the Patient Financial Services Department at CHRISTUS Health. This leadership role encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at fostering professional development and enhancing operational efficiency within the unit. The position is designed to expand one's responsibilities and influence within the PFS Department, while collaborating effectively with team members and management to deliver exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as a subject matter authority, providing support to fellow PFS team members and other departments within the CHRISTUS Health network.
- Facilitates training for new employees across various functions and serves as a reliable resource for staff inquiries.
- Possesses a comprehensive understanding of payer benefit requirements, online claims status, submission processes, billing, cash application, and reconciliation methods.
- Evaluates and decides on requested adjustments and refunds within established authority limits.
- Embraces process evaluations and enhancements, supports ongoing change initiatives, and willingly undertakes special projects alongside regular duties.
- Maintains flexibility in role assignments, which may include transitioning to different units to optimize service delivery within PFS and CHRISTUS Health.
- Exhibits a professional, courteous, and enthusiastic demeanor, while upholding a positive image of the unit and organization.
- Engages with CHRISTUS Health facility departments to resolve outstanding inquiries related to account or charge posting, ensuring compliance with payer and government regulations.
- Ensures that quality and productivity benchmarks are consistently met or surpassed.
- Accurately documents activities in the patient accounting host system or other systems utilized by Patient Financial Services, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Provides ongoing updates and insights to the Patient Financial Services Leadership Team regarding persistent errors, payer-related trends, registration issues, and other quality assurance activities impacting productivity and reimbursement.
- Collaborates effectively within a team, contributing constructively to achieve collective goals.
- Continuously seeks to understand and address customer needs, concerns, and priorities.
- Meets customer expectations and builds trust and respect through reliable service.
- Demonstrates sustained enthusiasm and commitment to assigned tasks.
- Works with the Supervisor to receive constructive feedback on performance and develop a personal growth plan.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Post-secondary education is preferred.
