Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Transport Technician to join our team at the University of California. As a Patient Transporter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients within our medical facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Position, transfer, and transport patients to and from various departments or locations using wheelchairs, beds, or gurneys.
  • Perform teaching and training functions, dispatching duties, and limited clerical tasks related to the transport function.
  • Maintain equipment, clean, and disinfect as needed.
  • Deliver and pick up specimens, blood, medical equipment, medical records, medications, and other items.
  • Transport deceased patients to the morgue.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills for data entry and hospital system navigation.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 150 pounds.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Proficiency in English language, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow healthcare regulations and UCLA policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Acute care hospital experience.
  • Knowledge of patient care in a hospital setting.
  • Transport and/or lift team experience.
