Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marina Operations Manager to join our team at Freedom Boat Club Chicago. As a Marina Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our marina, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the hiring process for dock hands, including reviewing credentials and conducting interviews
  • Train dock staff on proper procedures for cleaning, safety, and customer service
  • Plan work schedules and assign duties to maximize performance and reduce overhead
  • Monitor staff performance and ensure quality standards are met
  • Maintain supply inventory and track usage to reduce waste
  • Maintain the appearance of boats, docks, facilities, and equipment
  • Assist members with boarding and disembarking boats, casting off and securing lines
  • Complete thorough boat inspections to identify damage and verify operational status
  • Maintain accurate records in the reservation system and fill out incident reports
  • Oversee and maintain the dock log and answer member questions and concerns
  • Monitor weather conditions and communicate with members and staff
  • Plan and direct activities for upcoming events, such as video shoots, seminars, and VIP visits
  • Schedule and fuel boats as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be over 18 years old
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Management or supervisor experience required
  • Demonstration of leadership skills
  • Pass a background check and drug screening
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record

  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and adaptability
  • Comfort around water

Required Physical Abilities:

  • Transferring between boat and dock repeatedly
  • Working outside in various weather conditions
  • Maneuvering in tight spaces
  • Standing and/or kneeling for prolonged intervals
  • Bending, balancing, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.
