Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Professional to join our primarily virtual Controller Shared Service team. As a core member of the team, you will play a valuable part in supporting and executing a wide range of projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare monthly close entries, ensuring that the journal entry is properly supported for audit purposes and properly recorded in the ledger.
  • Accounting Close Process Support: Support with the accounting close process, including the review and recording of journal entries, and completion of account reconciliations.
  • Ad Hoc Requests and Projects: Support ad hoc requests and projects within Operational Accounting and from other stakeholders, such as internal audit, external audit, government compliance, etc.
  • Journal Entry Review and Processing: Review and process daily journal entries submitted by Program Finance community.
  • Issue Identification and Resolution: Possess the skills to identify and analyze issues, communicate upward and involve Leads/Managers (if needed), and hold meetings with stakeholders to resolve matters in a timely manner.
  • Project Volunteering: Willingness to volunteer for new projects, tasks, or ad-hoc duties; including but not limited to, Fixed Asset administration, reprimes (org restructuring), Balance Sheet Reconciliations (including administrative duties), Revenue Redistribution, Pass Thru Journal Entries.
  • Training and Development: Willingness to train new team members or customers from other departments on various topics.
  • Accounting Policy Compliance: Become familiar with accounting policies to ensure compliance.
  • Risk Mitigation and Customer Support: Willingness to volunteer and seek out projects and challenges that will help our customers internally and externally, while also helping to mitigate risk to Leidos.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a Business or Accounting related field of study with 2+ years of related experience or a Master's in Accounting with less than 2 years of prior experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Must be self-motivated and willing to independently study concepts and policies with the goal of shortening the learning curve. Strong computer skills including being proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Work Schedule and Flexibility: Should have a flexible work schedule and the willingness to work additional hours during surge or accounting close weeks.
