Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter specializing in Inland Marine Insurance. This position is designed for remote work, primarily serving clients in the Western United States.

Your Role

As a key member of our underwriting team, you will report directly to the Zone Line of Business Head for Inland Marine West. Your primary responsibility will be to underwrite new and renewal business, ensuring profitability and adherence to established underwriting guidelines. You will also engage in negotiations regarding pricing, terms, and conditions while cultivating strong relationships with brokers and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts to achieve financial targets, collaborating with brokers on pricing and terms.
  • Adhere to the governance framework for underwriting, ensuring compliance with global standards and guidelines.
  • Oversee the accuracy of policy documentation issued to brokers.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of regional underwriting strategies.
  • Mentor and support the growth of junior staff members.
  • Drive initiatives for acquiring new business and retaining existing accounts, engaging with various functional areas throughout the underwriting process.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in underwriting inland marine insurance, with established relationships within the brokerage community.
  • In-depth knowledge of various inland marine products, including construction and transportation coverages.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics is preferred, along with relevant professional qualifications.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with industry experts.
Compensation and Benefits

The annualized base salary for this role ranges from $117,582 to $232,293, depending on various factors such as role complexity and candidate qualifications.
