Job Purpose:

The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing, tracking, and managing the credentialing and re-credentialing processes. This includes all facets of the credentialing operations for the health system and its verification organization. Key responsibilities encompass initial appointments, reappointments, and the management of expirables, as well as clinical privileging for both Medical Staff and Advanced Practice Clinicians.

Ensures adherence to the relevant accrediting and regulatory standards while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the laws and regulations governing credentialing.

This position is accountable for the precision and reliability of the credentialing database and associated applications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review practitioner applications and supporting documents to verify eligibility.
- Conduct comprehensive background checks, research, and primary source verification of all application components.
- Identify issues requiring further investigation, validate discrepancies, and ensure appropriate follow-up.


- Prepare credentialing files for completion and forward all necessary information to relevant entities, ensuring timely completion.

- Process requests for privileges, ensuring compliance with established criteria.


- Address inquiries from other healthcare organizations and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on credentialing and privileging matters.

- Assist with managed care delegated credentialing audits.

- Utilize the Medical Staff credentialing database to enhance efficiency, performing queries, reports, and document generation.

- Monitor the initial, reappointment, and expirables processes for all medical staff and advanced practice clinicians.

Qualifications:

- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Skills in program planning and implementation.
- Knowledge of relevant accreditation and certification standards.
- Familiarity with medical credentialing and privileging procedures.
- Ability to analyze and interpret research findings and prepare reports.
- Understanding of clinical and hospital operations.
- Proficient informational research skills.
- Capacity to manage and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Database management skills, including querying and reporting.
- Ability to make informed administrative decisions.

PREFERRED Qualifications:

- Knowledge of accreditation and certification standards.
- Familiarity with medical credentialing and privileging processes.
- Understanding of clinical and hospital operations.
