Civil Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at BlackRock Resources LLC. As a key member of our Engineering business, you will be responsible for managing the planning and design stages of civil engineering projects, including site development and site infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning and design stages of civil engineering projects, including site development and site infrastructure.
  • Perform work in all aspects of project planning, design, and plan preparation for land development projects, as well as stormwater management plan development, erosion and sedimentation control planning, design, and permitting.
  • Complete various land development and environmental permitting applications.
  • Attend meetings with municipal officials, engineers, developers, and contractors.
  • Prepare and complete NPDES permit packages.
  • Research zoning codes and ordinance requirements for project sites.
  • Coordinate with Project and Production Managers to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, utility companies, and other public regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare project technical reports and specifications.
  • Site layout/zoning analysis.
  • Grading/earthwork.
  • Perform due diligence on the impact and feasibility of new construction sites.
  • Oversee all project stages from preliminary layouts to final engineering designs.
  • Survey new construction sites and assess existing structures for upgrades.
  • Design and recommend improvements to computer-aided design (CAD) software drawings and schematics.
  • Perform cost estimations and prepare project budgets.
  • Ensure that civil engineering projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Inspect completed projects for compliance with industry codes, specifications, and safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Pennsylvania PE (Ohio and/or WV a plus).
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience working as a civil engineer on similar projects.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering project management software, such as Civil 3D and CAD.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering and construction specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a motivated team player that gets along well with others.
  • Can take direction well and work independently for periods of time.
  • Must be a problem solver, multi-tasker, and positive thinker.
  • Careful attention to detail.
