Job Summary

This position is located in the Network Control Center (NCC) within the Office of Technology, Services and Innovation (TSI) at the U.S. Agency for Global Media.

The Director of the NCC will lead the central 24/7/365 hub for the agency's global satellite network, scheduling and coordinating agency satellite network operations for broadcasts in more than 60 languages globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage approximately $90 Million worth of telecommunications infrastructure deployed at USAGM Headquarters in Washington D.C. and remote global locations.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the global distribution satellite system.
  • Develop and improve communications systems, procedures, and requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with satellite and internet broadcast transmission systems.
  • Plan and coordinate operations of a global broadcast distribution system.
  • Lead telecommunications staff in support of broadcast transmissions.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-14 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.
  • Developing and improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrates knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology specific to satellite transmission systems.
