Position Overview

We are currently in search of an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to provide support for a critical national security initiative. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and security of information systems within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The ISSE will be tasked with a variety of information security engineering activities, which may include:
  • Establishing information security requirements and integrating them into technology components through deliberate security design.
  • Creating and executing security designs to ensure that hardware, operating systems, and software applications meet cyber security standards and Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM) requirements.
  • Identifying vulnerabilities and non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards, while recommending effective mitigation strategies.
  • Implementing and validating Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements and conducting SRG assessments for development and implementation projects.
  • Customizing and configuring Splunk applications and dashboards to enhance security monitoring.
  • Developing Security Test Procedures (STP) and conducting self-assessments to ensure compliance with configuration guidance and support A&A testing.
  • Performing risk analysis by reviewing ACAS, CVEs, plugins, CWEs, and collaborating with System Administrators to address identified vulnerabilities.
  • Executing continuous monitoring efforts, responding to data calls, scan requests, and fulfilling various security metrics reporting requirements.
  • Validating control implementations to enforce necessary data access and network flow restrictions aligned with the continuous monitoring strategy.
  • Participating in Agile Planning Events to provide technical insights.
  • Supporting government activities and reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Assisting in security authorization activities in compliance with the Information System Certification and Accreditation Process, following the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and other prescribed security engineering processes.
  • Collaborating with architects and systems developers to identify and implement suitable information security functionalities, ensuring consistent application of security policies.
  • Applying expertise in system security engineering across various domains, including system security design, risk management, and security testing.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience, while four years of additional ISSE experience may replace a Bachelor's degree.
  • Compliance with DoD 8570 IASAE Level 3 is mandatory.
  • At least one year of experience within the Intelligence Community.
  • Three years of experience with scripting languages, Linux/RedHat, and/or Networking Appliances.
  • Possession of Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) and CISSP Certifications is essential.
  • An active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a polygraph is required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in implementing mitigation strategies and resolving issues, with the ability to re-test and re-evaluate systems.
  • Experience with DISA STIG implementation and SCAP tool usage.
  • Familiarity with server administration and understanding system and application security threats.
  • Experience in extending applications in areas such as security, monitoring, task automation, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to write scripts or programs (using Shell scripting, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell) in Linux or Windows environments to support various Cyber Security tools.
  • Expertise in providing guidance on vulnerability and malware remediation.
  • Experience in analyzing vulnerabilities, determining causes and impacts, and identifying corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000, reflecting the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
