Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at EvergreenHealth. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient scheduling, including creating and managing appointments, rescheduling, and cancellations.
  • Manage multi-line telephone system, responding to patient inquiries and directing emergent/urgent calls to clinical staff.
  • Verify and set up patient insurance coverage, educating patients on co-insurance/co-pay, self-pay, and other payment options.
  • Enroll patients in our patient portal and explain its benefits and features.
  • Request and validate interpreter services as needed.
  • Complete patient check-in, direct patients to necessary paperwork, and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor and respond to patient messages and requests in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate communication between clinical staff and patients, ensuring seamless care delivery.
  • Manage appointment queues, cancellation lists, and wait lists.
  • Prepare and send patient outreach communications, including appointment reminders and notifications.
  • Initiate outside medical record requests and prepare documents for Health Information Management processing.
  • Manage incoming referrals, facilitating communication between clinics, patients, and insurance companies.
  • Collect copayments and maintain accurate records.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment, supporting new staff training and development.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to infection control standards and safety protocols.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service role.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with diverse individuals and dispositions.
  • Ability to problem-solve, remain calm under pressure, and present oneself in a professional manner.
  • Strong written communication skills, including accuracy and legibility.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and work productively within a team environment.
  • Actively listen to and validate patient conversations, employing de-escalating techniques as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and access, analyze, and apply concepts associated with protocols, policy, and guidelines.
  • Keyboarding skills and working knowledge of Windows-based software systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative role.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and common medications.
  • Experience accessing and verifying insurance coverage, including Real Time Eligibility (RTE) Payer/Insurance Portals.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably Cerner.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and other health industry compliance standards.
