Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of antenatal and perinatal health histories, assessing gestational age accurately.
  • Perform life-saving resuscitation techniques for newborns in both delivery and neonatal units, utilizing advanced methods such as endotracheal intubation and intravenous access.
  • Carry out comprehensive physical examinations and assessments on infants across various units.
  • Execute specialized procedures for high-risk infants, including catheterizations and lumbar punctures, adhering to advanced practice competencies.
  • Order and interpret necessary laboratory tests and imaging studies to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Prescribe essential therapies, including phototherapy and nutritional support, tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Regularly assess patient progress, develop care plans, and document all clinical interactions meticulously.
  • Collaborate closely with attending physicians to optimize treatment strategies for assigned patients.
  • Develop and revise clinical protocols and standards for neonatal care, ensuring alignment with current research and best practices.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and provide educational resources to staff to enhance quality improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a clinical resource for nursing staff, identifying educational needs and facilitating training programs.
  • Participate in hospital committees focused on patient care and quality enhancement.
  • Maintain clinical expertise by providing direct patient care as needed, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and policy standards.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in neonatal care.
  • Master's degree in nursing.
  • Active Registered Nurse License in Hawaii.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License in Hawaii.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • National Provider Identifier.
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care environment.
  • Two years of recent experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current Hawaii APRN Recognition with Prescriptive Authority.

Additional Information:

Shifts may vary, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate departmental needs. Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
