Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Patient Services Representative to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our patient services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive exceptional care and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Check-In and Verification: Maintain the flow of patient check-in, verify demographic and insurance information, and enter it into our computer database. Ensure that patient information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Communication and Scheduling: Assist with answering phones, taking messages, and responding to patient and staff inquiries. Schedule appointments for patients in accordance with physician guidelines.
  • Payment and Collections: Collect time of service payment amounts, collect prior balance amounts, and arrange payment plans as requested.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with various administrative duties, such as front-end tasks, denials, work queues, and correcting errors to ensure clean claims.
  • Confidentiality and HIPAA Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to CHRISTUS Health's guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Communication and Teamwork: Use oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear and positive manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission. Maintain established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of managed care preferred, ability to operate a 10-key calculator by touch, telephone, computer, copier, and fax machine. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good math knowledge essential. Some college preferred, three or more years of experience in a healthcare organization, ICD9 and CPT coding (advanced skills) preferred, experience with charge posting or collections preferred.
