Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Clinic Patient Representative to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a positive experience for our patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a smooth patient check-in process, verifying demographic and insurance information and entering it into our computer database.
  • Assist with answering phones, taking messages, and responding to patient and staff inquiries.
  • Respond to requests for patient account corrections and/or maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Schedule appointments for patients in accordance with physician guidelines.
  • Collect time of service payment amounts, collect prior balance amounts, and/or arrange payment plans as requested.

Additional Duties:

  • Check in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical record, and assist patients with completing all necessary forms.
  • Schedule appointments according to clinician template and follow office scheduling policies.
  • Assist the front office lead/supervisor with other administrative duties, such as front-end tasks, denials, work queues, and correcting errors to ensure clean claims.
  • Screen visitors and respond to routine requests for information.
  • Follow CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Use oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission.
  • Maintain established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Perform job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics and supportive of CHRISTUS Health's cultural diversity objectives.
  • Support and adhere to the CHRISTUS Service Guarantee.
  • Perform other related work as assigned by leadership.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of managed care preferred.
  • Ability to operate a 10-key calculator by touch, telephone, computer, copier, and fax machine.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good math knowledge essential.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in a healthcare organization.
  • ICD9 and CPT coding (advanced skills) preferred.
  • Experience with charge posting or collections preferred.
