Medication Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team at American House Senior Living Communities. As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and services to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications to residents in a safe and accurate manner, in accordance with physician orders and company policies.
- Document medications administered on the medication administration record (MAR) and ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Conduct change of shift reports with oncoming and outgoing shift personnel to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Maintain the security of medication carts and narcotic keys during shifts and conduct narcotic counts at the beginning and end of every shift.
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, eating, and ambulation/mobility.
- Work collaboratively with peers and other team members to ensure resident-centered care.
- Participate in and support the resident-centered activities program.
- Assist with housekeeping tasks, such as bed-making, linen changes, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs.
- Assist residents with personal correspondence and telephone usage when requested.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to the Wellness Director or charge nurse.
- Conduct room checks and resident rounds to ensure resident safety and well-being.
- Assist in a variety of tasks related to dining, such as escorting residents to the dining room, assisting with setup and clean-up, serving meals, and busing tables.
- Respond to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner and report such incidents to the charge nurse.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and mandatory in-services.
- Document provision of services on company forms.
- Use tactful and diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
- Follow up with staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
- Act as an ambassador and public relations representative to guests and other off-campus visitors.
- Communicate with physicians and third-party specialists, such as homecare providers, labs, and hospice professionals.
- Copy special paperwork or forms.
- Demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
- Collaborate with associates in other departments to ensure necessary care and services are provided.
- Participate in projects or committees as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
