Responsibilities- Medication Preparation and Distribution: Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Inventory Management: Manage and maintain accurate perpetual inventories of medications and supplies, identifying discrepancies and taking corrective action.
- Controlled Substances Management: Assist with the management of controlled substances, ensuring compliance with DEA, FDA, and state regulations.
- Pharmacy Automation: Utilize pharmacy automation systems to optimize safety and efficiency in drug distribution.
- IV Admixture and Compounding: Prepare IV admixtures and compounds non-sterile products accurately and aseptically.
- Narcotic Distribution: Perform specialized narcotic distribution, maintaining accurate records and identifying discrepancies.
- Pharmaceutical and Supply Inventory: Manage and maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical and supply inventory, processing recalls and monitoring expiration dates.
- Medication Storage and Retrieval: Perform nursing unit/clinical area medication storage area inspections and retrieve and dispense medication using barcode technology.
- Pharmaceutical Calculations: Perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately and independently.
- Patient Medication Orders: Process patient medication orders accurately and efficiently.
- Graduate of ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Program and Associate Degree or Equivalent Experience.
- Biennial Completion of 20 hours of ACPE-certified pharmacy technician specific training.
- TN Board of Pharmacy Technician License. Licensure must be received within 90 days from the first day of employment.
- National Certification.
