About the Role

At American Family Care, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are critical to patient care and diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-Analytical Services
    • Properly start lab equipment daily; run and document controls; perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment as scheduled per written protocols.
  • Specimen Collection and Processing
    • Greet patients upon encounter, verify patient identity at each encounter, explain procedures to be performed, obtain verbal consent, and address patient questions and concerns.
    • Collect specimens from the patient utilizing the approved equipment, sequence, and procedure.
    • Draw blood from the patient's finger, ear lobe, or vein, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples.
  • Test Analysis and Reporting
    • Follow established procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
    • Perform authorized tests within the technician's skill level as determined by education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
    • Report results timely and notifies providers of abnormalities.
  • Quality Control and Assurance
    • Ensure that all laboratory tests and procedures are performed in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 6 months to 1 year of related experience or training preferred
