Job Summary

The City of Providence is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist Fellow to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist Fellow, you will work under the supervision of an experienced and licensed speech-language pathologist to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and agency regulations pertaining to the Rhode Island Early Intervention system.
  • Establish and maintain effective working partnerships with families, EI team members, and medical and community partners.
  • Perform screenings, evaluations, assessments, and make relevant intervention and service recommendations.
  • Develop IFSP outcomes that are family-owned, functional, measurable, within daily routines, and integrated across developmental domains.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions by coaching caregivers with strategies for implementation into daily routines, every day activities, and natural environments.
  • Exhibit professional work habits and show commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Participate in regular supervision with a licensed speech-language pathologist to review cases, clinical decisions, and receive guidance on complex cases.
  • Complete all Family Service and Early Intervention paperwork, including forms and written documentation of all evaluations, IFSP outcomes, progress reports, communication with families, outside referral sources, physicians, etc.
  • Assess, aid in measurement and/or fabrication, and provide written justification for adaptive equipment used to facilitate and enhance client mobility, positioning, and independent functioning.
  • Participate in transition meetings, team coordination meetings, and any other meeting for a family as needed.
  • Maintain productivity of at least 50 percent of hours worked per week.
  • Provide confidential environment in home for telehealth services.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Master's Degree from a Board-approved school of Speech-Language Pathology and meet requirements for licensing by the RI Department of Health.
  • Current RI driver's license.
  • Current auto insurance.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6% above base pay.
Continuing Education Requirements
  • As needed to maintain Speech Pathologist Therapist licensure and meet personnel qualifications in the Rhode Island Early Intervention Certification Standards.
  • Completion of Introduction to Early Intervention course.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid.
