Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team in the Emergency Department. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide continuous care and supervision to patients, ensuring a safe and secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist with routine patient care activities, including assisting patients with activities of daily living, obtaining clinical data, and performing point-of-care testing.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by keeping hallways clear of excess equipment and supplies.
  • Assist visitors and answer telephones.
  • Follow and participate in patient's plan of care.
  • Assist with the management of aggressive patients.
  • Monitor and/or care for patients who require close observation, including those at risk for suicide or elopement.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to establish goals and restrictions of privileges based on the patient's behavior and level of care.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in mental health or human services related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or mental health preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills desired, with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Complete required Workplace Violence Prevention Training within 6 months of hire.
