Position Summary:

The Mountain Safety Team Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of guest safety on the mountain while promoting the Skier Responsibility Code and the safety protocols of Vail Resorts. This role acts as a representative for guest service and resort knowledge, overseeing a team of 10-15 individuals to ensure adequate coverage and address safety concerns for both guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and uphold the highest levels of guest safety while skiing or snowboarding in various terrains and weather conditions.
  • Enforce the Skier Responsibility Code and resort policies, providing guidance to guests and staff on appropriate conduct.
  • Respond to guest inquiries regarding terrain, directions, and resort information in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Install and oversee signage in designated slow ski zones.
  • Inspect trails for safety hazards, including placing ropes and managing snow conditions.
  • Lift and manage equipment such as signage and safety gear.
  • Assist guests in regaining their footing and navigating the mountain.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and conduct daily audits for accuracy.
  • Motivate, train, and support team members effectively.
  • Manage specific mountain areas, escalating issues to leadership as necessary, and facilitate daily organization of responsibilities.
  • Meet and exceed company expectations for Mountain Safety Contacts.
  • Serve as a communication link between staff and management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in guest service roles.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Exceptional guest service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in challenging weather conditions in a high-altitude environment.
  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays.
  • Strong sensory abilities to learn skills and follow directions.
  • Successful completion of an on-mountain ski/ride test (minimum PSIA Level 7).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ski/Snowboard proficiency at PSIA Level 8.
  • Familiarity with the local area and resort.
  • College-level education.

The expected pay range for this position is $24.26 per hour. Compensation decisions are made based on various factors.
