Microgrid Control and Automation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Microgrid Control and Automation Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our Power Delivery Services Team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing innovative solutions for our clients.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on microgrid control and automation systems. You will be responsible for developing and implementing control strategies for microgrid systems, as well as designing and testing automation systems for renewable energy sources.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement control strategies for microgrid systems, including islanding operation, grid-connected operation, energy management, and power flow management.
- Design and test automation systems for renewable energy sources, including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind turbines, and batteries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement microgrid control and automation systems.
- Perform planning and engineering in support of telecommunication systems and telecommunication projects.
- Establish project schedules and budgets.
- Develop drawings and specifications for utility telecommunication system projects.
- Coordinate with other internal engineering departments, external contractors, and utility construction crews.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with two (2+) years of related experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with one (1+) year of related experience.
- Knowledge of microgrid and renewable energy systems, including power electronics and control systems.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Ability to learn a variety of client software packages and databases as required.
- Must be comfortable in both a field and office setting.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
- Must possess the physical ability to support field work in, at times, rough terrain in order to access more remote project locations.
- Fundamentals of Engineering certification.
- Master's degree in a related field.
