About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Relay Settings and Automation Specialist to join our team at 00068 LEIDOS ENGINEERING INC. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing Relay Settings and Automation projects for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and configure substation automation systems, including IED and data concentrators.
  • Develop and implement communication protocols for Ethernet and Serial communications in substations.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and perform quality reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Work directly with clients and other staff in remote office locations to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Assignments will cover the full range of project planning through design and construction support.
Requirements
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering with (2+ years) of relevant experience.
  • Mid-Level: B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering with (2+ years) of relevant experience.
  • Senior Level: B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering with (4+ years) of relevant experience.
  • Experience with power system or communication engineering in high voltage electrical utility substation protection and control engineering.
  • Experience with communication devices HMI, SCADA, and RTU.
  • Experience with implementation of different communication protocols (example: DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850 MMS and GOOSE).
  • Control and protection schemes including the preparation of schematics and wiring diagram.
  • Experienced with calculation of relay settings for microprocessor relays including SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB, and others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some past experience of using ASPEN and CAPE for coordination studies and fault study analysis.
  • Previous Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations.
  • Team player who can work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required when interfacing with clients and staff.
  • High level of computer competency.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
