Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Teacher to join our team at Dr. Day Care. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for our young learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote learning and development in children
  • Work collaboratively with Teacher Assistants to ensure a smooth and efficient classroom environment
  • Engage with children in learning activities, such as reading, playing, and having fun
  • Partner with families to nurture and care for their children
  • Assist with the accreditation process and other quality initiatives
  • Oversee, develop, implement, and coordinate curriculum and assessments

Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience working with children in this age group
  • Personal demeanor that is warm and friendly
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Organized and able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Team-oriented and willing to work with others
  • Management/leadership skills
Education Requirements
  • College credits, Associate's degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
  • Minimum of High school diploma (or equivalent) with college credits in Early Childhood Education or related field required
Certifications/Experience
  • At least 1 year working with children in this age group
  • At least 1 year working in an early learning/child care setting preferred
  • Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Teaching Strategies and/or Conscious Discipline preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting)
  • Visual and hearing acuity
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds
Other Qualifications
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English, bilingual encouraged to apply
  • Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check
  • Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS)
