Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead delivery of ITS and emerging technology projects to VDOT, including strategic and hands-on management support for the Regional Multi-Modal Mobility Program (RM3P).
  • Apply ITS knowledge and methodologies in systems engineering, strategic planning, technology assessments, data management, applications oversight, project/program evaluations, benefit-cost analyses, etc.
  • Manage project controls, including monitoring project/task progress and performance, and overseeing schedules, budgets, risks, etc.
  • Interface with the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) and ensure that VDOT's technology projects comply with VITA requirements.
  • Facilitate client and stakeholder communications and meetings.
  • Develop and manage project task orders, including task planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor activities.
  • Identify and cultivate new work opportunities.
Requirements:
  • 8-10 years of progressive professional experience delivering ITS engineering services to state and federal transportation agencies.
  • PE and/or PTOE license in Virginia.
  • Certification as a VITA Project Manager, or ability to gain certification within 6 months.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current and emerging strategies and technologies, including traffic management, integrated corridor management, multi-modal management, demand management, transportation operations, decision support, modeling/simulation, prediction, and big data.
  • Proficiency in analytical and strategic thinking; verbal and written communications; and collaborative leadership.
