HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory Manager

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a leading cancer research and treatment center, dedicated to discovering new cures and improving patient outcomes. As a Clinical Immunogenetics Laboratory Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of histocompatibility and chimerism testing for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
This is a unique opportunity to join a team of experienced professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and advancing the field of immunogenetics. As a supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily laboratory operations, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with ASHI standards and Fred Hutch policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and accuracy of testing.
- Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet performance expectations.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Director and Manager to develop and implement strategic plans for the laboratory.
- Ensure compliance with ASHI standards and Fred Hutch policies, and participate in quality assurance and proficiency testing programs.
- Develop and implement training programs for laboratory staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical or research lab experience performing histocompatibility testing.
- Clinical Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) or Clinical Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) certification.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and review test results.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
