Senior Mechanical Engineer for Spacecraft Materials Development

We seek a highly experienced Sr. Mech. Engr. with extensive knowledge in fatigue and fracture property development for novel rocket designs, complemented by a strong background in materials science or mechanical engineering.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and implement fatigue and fracture control strategies for manned space flight and reusable rockets, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with design engineers to select and develop materials with exceptional properties, leveraging expertise in materials science.
- Conduct thorough laboratory testing and failure analysis of vehicle hardware and raw stock materials, driving data-driven decision-making.
- Identify and implement innovative approaches to significantly enhance the fatigue life of spacecraft components.
- Bachelor's degree in materials science or mechanical engineering, supplemented by relevant industry experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in fatigue, fracture, or failure analysis of metals, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
- PhD in material science or materials engineering, with a focus on advanced materials development.
- Expertise in one of the following areas: fracture control, conducting fatigue or fracture tests, or failure analysis, with a deep understanding of materials behavior under stress.
- A strong desire to mentor and grow employees, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Estimated salary range: $170,000 - $240,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
