Responsibilities

Responsibilities (vary depending on hiring level):

EIT:

  • Act as an engineer in the planning, design, construction, and/or commissioning of water and wastewater treatment projects of varying scales.
  • Conduct data entry and analysis.
  • Execute system modeling, process calculations, and hydraulic calculations to size and select facilities.
  • Prepare cost estimates.
  • Conduct permitting and alternatives analysis.
  • Draft technical memoranda, reports, plans, specifications, and other deliverables.
  • Provide engineering services during construction, including reviewing contractor submissions for compliance with contract documents and assessing requests for information.
  • Engage in field activities, such as site visits and overseeing field operations.
  • Travel may be required.

P.E. through Senior Engineer additional responsibilities could include:

  • Serve as the technical lead on the planning, design, construction, and/or commissioning of water and wastewater treatment projects of various sizes.
  • May take on project management responsibilities for small to medium-sized projects.
  • Participate in field activities, including site visits and overseeing field work.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to project staff and entry to mid-level engineers.
  • Foster effective communication among project teams, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Deliver engineering services during construction, including reviewing contractor submissions for compliance with contract documents and evaluating requests for information.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients.
  • Collaborate with local business development teams to identify project opportunities and assist with business development activities, including proposal preparation and interview participation.
  • Coordinate the work of other engineering disciplines, designers, modelers, technicians, and others involved in specific assignments.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, including developing project scopes and fees.
  • Engage in field activities, such as site visits and overseeing field work.
  • Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Qualifications (vary depending on hiring level):

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • EIT Certification or successful completion of the FE exam or Registration as a Professional Engineer for higher-level engineers.
  • Experience in delivering and managing water/wastewater treatment projects with partial responsibility for budget, schedule, contractual obligations, and quality standards for higher-level engineers.
  • Ability to provide high-quality services within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Capability to apply critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques to develop options and recommendations for solving technical challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated and self-starting.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience (vary depending on hiring level):

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training: 0-2 years of experience in planning, design, and/or construction of water/wastewater treatment projects.
  • Professional Engineer: 2-5 years of experience.
  • Mid-level Engineer: 5-12 years of experience.
  • Senior-level Engineer: 12+ years of experience.

Pay Range

$60,000 to $190,000 annually. The range varies depending on hiring level. This represents the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Ultimately, we may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
