Responsibilities
Position Summary:

The Head of Culinary and Nutritional Services at Dignity Health oversees and manages all operational aspects related to food service. This role includes financial oversight, adherence to established standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The position involves leading the food and nutrition services team, fostering collaborative relationships with other departments to ensure a cohesive service experience for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities also encompass the daily management of food services, implementation of training programs for dietary personnel, and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.

Key Duties:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Department, ensuring efficient service delivery to customers, staff, and patients. Develop and manage the departmental budget while contributing to both short-term and long-term operational plans. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards related to food and nutrition services, including safe food handling practices, emergency food supplies, menu planning, and inventory management.
  • Manage human resources within the department, focusing on effective employee onboarding, training, performance supervision, and compliance with labor regulations and organizational policies.
  • Evaluate departmental performance through customer satisfaction assessments, quality inspections, and financial reporting. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) department to complete assessments and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Address customer feedback promptly and conduct service recovery initiatives when appropriate. Engage with patients and staff through regular rounding and maintain a log of feedback for continuous improvement. Participate in relevant hospital committees as outlined by departmental policies.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in hospital nutrition management.

Licensure:
  • Must possess certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Current certification as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager is required, along with up-to-date ServSafe Allergen Certifications.

Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $64.85 per hour. Dignity Health is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
