Job Summary

Huntington Bank is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Director, Portfolio Management in our Corporate Specialty and Government Banking group. As a key member of our Financial Institutions Group (FIG), you will be responsible for managing a book of business and deepening client relationships through proactive opportunity identification and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and close complex commercial loans, working closely with Relationship Management and other stakeholders.
  • Provide credit recommendations to credit administration, ensuring alignment with Huntington's policies and procedures.
  • Review loan documentation in consultation with legal counsel, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
  • Monitor customer credit worthiness, loan terms, and general business conditions to manage risk and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Manage annual reviews, renewals, portfolio reviews, collateral exceptions, borrowing bases, delinquencies, and other reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management, Capital Markets, and other team members to optimize customer relationships and drive business growth.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years of related portfolio management experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of diversified banking experience, with 5+ years of expertise in the Financial Institutions space, and completion of a formalized credit training program.
  • Demonstrated success in structuring complex credits, researching, judging, and presenting information, and creating documentation to support the credit and minimize risk.
  • Proven ability to manage workflow and deadlines, while effectively balancing competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, skill development, and feedback to team members.
  • Proven negotiation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as other software applications supporting the loan underwriting process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism.
