Position Title: Engineering Manager

Location: Memphis, TN

Sector: Food and Beverage Manufacturing

DSJ Global is collaborating with a prominent organization in the Food and Beverage sector that is seeking to enhance its team with an Engineering Manager. This pivotal role involves being an integral part of the plant leadership team, encompassing a wide array of technical responsibilities such as: formulating and executing the engineering strategy for the facility, establishing a proactive maintenance framework, offering technical support to production processes, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager include:

  • Formulating a comprehensive 3-5 year capital investment strategy for the facility, focusing on equipment and systems that require refurbishment, replacement, or upgrades.
  • Overseeing the planning, development, and execution of both small and large-scale capital projects within plant operations. This includes defining project scopes, crafting solutions, and collaborating with vendors, consultants, and contractors to ensure successful project implementation while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and providing financial justification for capital expenditure investments.
  • Leading the team in recognizing production and process enhancements, collaborating with operations leadership to devise and implement engineering improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Setting a clear vision for the maintenance department to achieve optimal equipment performance. This involves implementing proactive strategies such as criticality analyses, preventive maintenance optimization, reliability-centered maintenance, and predictive maintenance to ensure high reliability across production assets.
  • Ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to develop the technical skills of maintenance personnel; collaborating with Human Resources to create robust employee development programs and establish external talent pipelines for skilled trades.

Qualifications for the Engineering Manager include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Chemical preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, with a focus on Project, Process, or Plant Engineering.
  • Experience with high-speed automated packaging systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, control systems, automation, and instrumentation.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple large-scale projects concurrently.
