Spacecraft Production Lead

Quantum Space is seeking an experienced Spacecraft Production Lead to join our team. As a key contributor to the future of space-based data and logistics services, you will be responsible for developing production processes and documentation, building a team, creating technical facilities, and leading spacecraft integration and test activities from cradle-to-grave.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute plans for spacecraft subassembly builds and tests
  • Conduct comprehensive system-level testing on spaceflight hardware
  • Oversee environmental test campaigns, including EMI, Vibration, and Thermal Vacuum
  • Identify and implement essential ground support equipment
  • Support system engineering verification activities
  • Lead design, integration, and test readiness reviews
  • Commission and maintain our production ecosystem, including work order and inventory systems
  • Manage facilities such as cleanrooms and flight hardware build areas
  • Build and develop a diverse team of manufacturing engineers, test engineers, and technicians
Requirements:
  • BS in Engineering or related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in spacecraft integration and functional testing
  • Experience in drafting and executing work orders or build instructions per AS9100 or similar standards
  • Experience in writing test procedures
  • Experience in environmental testing
  • Knowledge of cleanroom and ESD-sensitive build operations
  • Experience with non-conformance reporting and documentation processes
  • Onsite work location within the DMV area
  • Willingness to travel to test, integration, and launch site(s)
Nice-to-Have Credentials:
  • MS in Engineering or related field
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience managing small teams of direct reports
  • Experience in reviewing design drawings
  • Hands-on experience with build and inspection tools
