Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Volunteer Liaison to join our team at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and enhancing the relationships we have with individual volunteers, as well as maintaining a healthy volunteer program by listening to and understanding the needs of volunteers, paid staff, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Placement: Collaborate with Refugee & Immigration team members to understand current volunteer and in-kind needs, conduct site visits, and recruit individual volunteers to support refugee programs in Phoenix.
  • Volunteer Management: Welcome and train volunteers, maintain excellent communication with placed volunteers, and monitor progress.
  • Information Development and Tracking: Request, review, and electronically save onboarding documents, monitor hours reporting, and track information within donor databases.
  • In-Kind Donation Support: Communicate with program staff to understand current in-kind needs, provide administrative support in obtaining in-kind receipts, and assist with sorting and distributing donations.
  • Volunteer Appreciation: Plan and implement personalized appreciation efforts for Refugee Phoenix volunteers, create opportunities for educational development and social activities, and participate in annual Volunteer Appreciation events.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree, with preference given for degree in a related field, and significant understanding of philanthropy, development, and volunteer management.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Outlook and Microsoft Office Programs, ability to work with diverse communities, and experience in cultural diversity.
