Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team at the University of Louisville. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and characterizing microsensor arrays, micropreconcentrators, and microreactors for detecting and monitoring trace volatile organic compounds in environmental air or lab-developed breath analysis tests for disease diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute research experiments using microfabrication techniques and micro/nanofluidic devices.
  • Analyze experimental data and update research notebooks.
  • Read literature relevant to research and training objectives.
  • Prepare manuscripts and written reports.
  • Present research findings at local, national, and international meetings.
  • Train graduate and undergraduate students.

Requirements:

  • PhD or PhD/MD degree in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Previous experience in microfabrication, microfabricated gas sensor arrays, micropreconcentrators, and microreactors, GC-MS, and UHPLC-MS is preferred.

  • Project planning and execution.
  • Manuscript preparation of research findings.
  • Statistical analysis, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  • Organized time management and prioritization.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Strong work ethic and motivation.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lab-based environment with regular exposure to chemicals and solvents.
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, and stooping.
