Role Summary:
The Benefits Analyst will play a crucial role within the Health & Welfare Practice, contributing to the firm’s goals by offering both technical and administrative support to our team of consultants and analysts across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analytical Duties:
    Conduct thorough reviews of health plan statistical and financial reports, ensuring accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Generate periodic reports for clients detailing plan operations and performance, including annual budget forecasts for income, expenses, and reserves.
  • Estimate projected costs for self-insured benefits, including medical, dental, prescription drug, and vision coverage.
  • Calculate COBRA rates and other self-payment rates, as well as required Employer Contribution rates.
  • Assess potential cost savings or expenses related to benefit or eligibility changes.

Technical and Writing Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the receipt and evaluation of insurance and service provider renewals.
  • Prepare and review Requests for Proposals for insurance carriers or service providers.
  • Draft and review plan comparisons, participant notifications, Summary Plan Descriptions, Plan Documents, and amendments as needed.
  • Assist with compliance and regulatory reporting obligations.

Interpersonal Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow analysts to enhance data management and project capabilities.
  • Provide administrative support to clients and internal teams.
  • Effectively communicate with external clients and across various departments, including Health & Welfare, Actuarial, OPEB & Pension, finance, sales, and marketing.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Solid understanding of statistics and business operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a quick resolution approach.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills, capable of working independently and managing multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with plan modeling software programs is advantageous.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role or industry.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector, either with an insurance provider or an employee benefits consulting firm.
