Job Summary

Afton Chemical Corporation, part of the NewMarket Corporation family of companies, is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to ensure uninterrupted, cost-effective supply of raw materials. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in related roles, with a strong understanding of procurement and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement long-term sourcing strategies to ensure raw material availability and economics.
  • Define and implement procurement strategies at a global level for specific raw materials.
  • Monitor market changes and ensure that market conditions are anticipated, managed, and communicated.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for price and supply conditions, ensuring commercial terms are optimized.
  • Monitor quality and consistency of raw materials and investigate and resolve quality issues quickly and effectively with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain forecasts for use with suppliers and for communication within Afton.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships, aligning suppliers with key business objectives.
  • Collaborate with procurement team members to identify synergies and ensure maximization of strategic procurement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education & Experience Minimums:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Math, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning, negotiation, influencing, and business acumen skills acquired through 7 or more years of experience in related roles with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of procurement, typically acquired through 5 or more years of procurement experience.
  • Applied experience using tools and technologies to efficiently and effectively perform detailed business analytics and communications.
