Job Summary

Baltimore City Community College's School of Arts and Social Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Education. The successful candidate will have administrative experience and be qualified to provide instruction in courses such as introduction to education, special education, the developmental process, instruction of reading competency, introduction to elementary teaching methods, educational assessment, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Contribute to the college's mission and goals through effective teaching and instruction.
  • Demonstrate Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter through exceptional content delivery, pedagogy, and andragogy through the teaching of Education courses.
  • Program Development: Provide input for the development of the Education program instruction, standards, and policies.
  • Course Management: Upload current syllabi, readings, and homework assignments and submit grades on time in Canvas.
  • Student Guidance: Provide guidance to students for academic planning.
  • Instructional Technologies: Incorporate current instructional technologies into the classroom.
  • Feedback and Evaluation: Provide students with meaningful written and oral feedback in a timely fashion.
  • Office Hours: Hold required office hours.
Service and Professional Development
  • College and School Meetings: Actively participate in college, school, and program coordinators meetings.
  • Committee Membership: Serve on college and school committees.
  • Education Program Advisory Committee: Serve as an active member on the Education Program Advisory Committee.
  • Student Success: Contribute to student success by advising students from the point of their initial enrollment through graduation.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with, and contribute to, developments in the various fields and disciplines within Education.
Coordination
  • Adjunct Instructor Recruitment: Recruit and recommend adjunct instructors for hire.
  • Program Enhancement: Enhance the visibility of the Education program by providing leadership and maintaining relationships with community partners.
  • Articulation Agreements: Collaborate with the Baltimore City Public School system in support of new and existing articulation agreements.
  • Student Communication: Effectively communicate with students by email, phone, online discussion boards, and face-to-face, as appropriate.
  • Student Progress: Maintain up-to-date and accurate records on student progress and academic achievement.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement course and program assessment of student learning outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree: Master's Degree in Education or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Teaching Experience: Five years or more of experience as a full-time instructor in a college or university, preferably with community college experience.
  • Canvas Experience: Experience with Canvas or another learning management system (LMS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree: Doctoral degree in Education or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Administrative Experience: Administrative experience.
  • Dual Enrollment Experience: Experience with dual enrollment programs and teaching advanced adolescent students.
  • Commitment to Diversity: Commitment to working with underrepresented populations.
  • Banner ERP Experience: Experience with Banner ERP.
