Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for American Sign Language/Deaf Studies

About the Position
Baltimore City Community College is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for American Sign Language/Deaf Studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching ASL and Deaf Studies courses, developing and revising curricula, managing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes, and participating in service to the college and the school.
Responsibilities
- Teach ASL and Deaf Studies courses to a diverse population of learners through various teaching modalities, face-to-face, virtual, and/or online.
- Develop and revise curricula for ASL and Deaf Studies courses.
- Manage course and program assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Participate in service to the college and the school, including meetings, committee membership, activities, and events.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in ASL or related field.
- Proficiency in ASL and native or native-like signing skills.
- Strong foundation of ASL pedagogy.
- Extensive knowledge of Deaf culture.
- Three years of full-time teaching experience in a college/university setting.
- Administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASLTA certification (American Sign Language Teachers Association) or ASLPI score of 4.0 or higher (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview).
- Five years of ASL college teaching experience.
