Manufacturing Engineer

Overview
The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is crucial in delivering technical expertise to enhance plant operations and facilitate the implementation of new or revised programs.

  • Design and implement trials aimed at cost reduction, including minimizing scrap, shortening cycle times, and decreasing downtime.
  • Provide support to Maintenance and Manufacturing teams during equipment failures, startup procedures, and setup operations.
  • Advise on and assist in the development of efficient setup and maintenance protocols.
  • Analyze and develop strategies to address issues related to non-conforming product flow-out.
  • Engage in reviews for manufacturing planning of new programs.
  • Plan and carry out process development trials to establish required initial process capabilities.
  • Contribute to manufacturing enhancement initiatives and Kaizen teams.
  • Be available for overtime work as directed by the immediate supervisor to fulfill essential job responsibilities.
  • Undertake additional tasks as necessary to meet departmental goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not include direct supervisory duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in various CNC controls, tooling geometry, machine tool operations, and fixture design.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and controls.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Basic familiarity with relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.
  • Experience in PLC and robotic programming is preferred.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in metal removal and/or precision assembly manufacturing. Modifications may be made by the department Manager and Human Resources Manager if the candidate meets other qualifications.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk approximately 3 to 7 miles daily.
  • Capable of performing repetitive motions while standing or walking.
  • Ability to stand or walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to visually inspect for minute details during quality checks and distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

The employee may be assigned additional duties as required.
