The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is accountable for conducting thorough analyses of laboratory specimens and reporting results in accordance with established protocols. This role encompasses performing clinical tests across various laboratory disciplines, including but not limited to blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis. The specialist is expected to work autonomously, managing tasks to meet designated timelines.

Essential Duties:

  • Customer Service: Prioritize and manage workload effectively to ensure timely service delivery. Accurately process specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and conduct testing in compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Communication: Foster a collaborative environment by maintaining open lines of communication with supervisors and colleagues. Report any unusual findings or operational issues promptly.
  • Technical Proficiency: Execute prescribed testing procedures and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Demonstrate expertise in high-complexity testing and ensure proper specimen handling.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures and address discrepancies to uphold the highest standards of laboratory operations. Participate in compliance activities with regulatory agencies.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous education to remain informed about advancements in laboratory practices and technologies.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and organizational policies to promote a secure working environment.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
Licensure: MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) certification is required.
