Job Title: Adult Education Instructor - ESOL

About the Role:

CAMBA is seeking a qualified Adult Education Instructor to teach English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes to adults in Brooklyn. The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging lesson plans, manage the classroom effectively, and provide individualized support to students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach ESOL classes to adults at various levels, using a thematic and communicative approach
  • Design daily lesson plans to meet core course objectives and prepare instructional materials
  • Manage the classroom to maximize student learning and engagement
  • Review at-home assignments, provide feedback, and refer students to case managers as needed
  • Facilitate peer tutoring in digital literacy and implement strategies to improve student attendance
  • Collaborate with career advisors and job developers to support job placement and retention

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of applicable experience, or equivalent
  • Strong abilities in using Microsoft products, Zoom, and Google products
  • Familiarity with Common Core State Standards and ability to integrate computer skills into the classroom
  • Ability to adapt to the culture and environment of classes in a community-based organization setting
