Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Scientific Research Associate to join our team at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role at the interface of basic science and automation, accelerating discoveries and shaping the future of oncology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently perform bench experiments and aseptic cell culture, including isolating cells from tissues, gene editing, and nanoparticle and small-molecule screening;
- Coordinate specimen acquisition and maintain lab reagents and instruments;
- Utilize process management tools to track progress and perform statistical analysis;
- Transfer assays from bench to automated systems and ensure compliance with safety standards/procedures;
- Serve as EHS representative and report on progress at internal and external meetings;
- Train researchers and junior staff and perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require a bachelor's degree in cell biology, bioengineering, or a related field, along with at least four years' lab experience in a related field. Strong quantitative skills, comprehensive understanding of biological/chemical research and lab work, and experience performing mammalian cell culture or functional genomics techniques are also essential.
Preferred Qualifications
A master's degree, supervisory experience, and proficiency with data science tools such as R or Python are highly desirable. Experience with cell transfection/electroporation, western blotting, ELISA, and immunofluorescence, high-content screening, and discretion and judgment with confidential information are also beneficial.
Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
