We are seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join our team as a President Harry S. Truman Fellow. This prestigious fellowship provides an opportunity for the selected candidate to pursue independent research in support of Sandia's national security mission.
Responsibilities- Pursue independent research in areas meaningful to national security, including biological sciences, earth, energy, and environmental science, engineering sciences, materials and advanced manufacturing, math, computing and information science, nanodevices and microsystems, physical sciences, and radiation effects and high energy density sciences
- Develop and submit a compelling research proposal that aligns with Sandia's national security mission
- Collaborate with Sandia's research team to advance the state-of-the-art in national security science and engineering
- PhD in a relevant field conferred within the past three years or completion of PhD requirements by commencement of appointment
- Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE security clearance, which requires US citizenship
- Strong research background and experience in areas meaningful to national security
- Creativity and self-motivation
- Proven interpersonal skills
- Interest in working in a collaborative, dynamic environment
Sandia's Science and Technology and Research Foundations supports the development and delivery of a full spectrum of differentiating capabilities, ranging from fundamental scientific discoveries to system-level engineering solutions, to support the Laboratory's mission needs.
Security ClearanceSandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
