Job Overview:
The Senior Logistics Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing a diverse range of logistics functions. This position encompasses both independent tasks and complex projects that require close oversight.

This is a remote position with a requirement for east coast working hours.

This role is offered as a 12-month contract, with the potential for extension or conversion.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Logistics Management


Provides comprehensive logistics support, including the coordination and prioritization of scheduled shipments, along with tracking and resolving distribution-related challenges.


Collaborates with senior Supply Chain and Quality personnel to execute transactions for material creation, movement, and utilization within Vertex's material management software system.

Ensures the completion and monitoring of supply chain documentation.

Takes charge of the accountability and disposal of rejected, returned, or unusable materials.

Oversees the global coordination of temperature-sensitive GMP and Non-GMP pharmaceutical materials.

Communicates with stakeholders (including Scientists, Production Planners, contract Manufacturers, and Logistics Service Providers) to ensure all shipment requirements are met, guaranteeing timely and complete deliveries.

Acts as a consultant to stakeholders to ensure compliance with import/export regulations, facilitating efficient shipment processes.

Collaborates with QA and Validation specialists to ensure that shipping lanes are monitored and adhere to all regulatory and business standards, updating documentation as necessary.

Business Systems and Analysis

Utilizes the Vertex Transportation Management System actively, performing transactions, diagnosing issues, and maximizing system capabilities.

Employs the TMS system to enhance operational efficiency and scalability as transaction volumes increase.

Monitors and resolves errors within ERP/TMS systems.

Possesses an understanding of Master Data management and the ability to propose solutions for data improvement.

Relationship Development

Establishes and nurtures relationships with third-party warehouses and carriers.

Assists in developing and occasionally facilitating business review meetings as necessary.

Coordinates with external contract manufacturing partners for the collection and analysis of inventory reports. Prepares Vertex inventory summaries and collaborates with Audit to address discrepancies.

Builds and maintains relationships with third-party suppliers and carriers.


Takes full ownership within the scope of the position and/or materials or projects managed, working with various cross-functional teams (such as Quality, Tech Ops, Regulatory, suppliers, etc.) to proactively and collaboratively resolve issues that may impede the timely flow of materials or projects.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Demonstrates professional and timely communication.

Exhibits the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Due to the global nature of the role, flexibility to work outside of standard business hours may be required.

Possesses strong organizational skills.

Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Shows the ability to assist in executing projects of varying scope and complexity.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with 2 – 3 years of experience in Logistics/Transportation required.

Experience in a Global Environment preferred.

Familiarity with Global Trade Requirements for importing/exporting products preferred.

Experience in life science startups or other fast-paced industries preferred.

Compensation Range:
$42-$50
